Bulk transfers - guarantees data delivery by using all available data bandwidth and large data transfers, but does not guarantee latency or transfer speed, mainly used by data storage devices Interrupt transfers - guarantees delivery latency time, but provides small data packet sizes, mainly used by keyboards, pointing devices and game controllers Isochronous transfers - guaranteed transfer speed (high priority), but not reliable delivery, mainly used by audio and video streaming devices. The USB 2.0 provides four data transfer types: In practice this number is lower due to some inherent USB communication overheads and it is more like two thirds of that number, so somewhere around 40MB/s. Watching an enemy explode without any accompanying sound effect represents the unpolished nature of the presentation. Sound effects are missing in a number of areas, most notably when enemies attack. Less effort was applied to enhancing the audio. The game appears hazy - the result of being ported from an older device. The visuals carry subtle new touches such as weather effects (rain, snow, etc.), reflections in ice, and a clear new font for texts (a very welcome change), but the overall low resolution of the game is unattractive. The addition of online battles extends the game's value, as do bonus items and quests when playing through again in Hell mode.Įnhancements have also been made with regards to the presentation, though they're difficult to pinpoint. A customisable display enables you to adjust the size and placement of the virtual D-pad, as well as the arrangement of skill and item hot keys. Major improvements to the interface enable full touch control in menus. Plenty of noteworthy changes have been made that deserve praise. Quirky characters also do their part to make the game fun, especially given their self-referential tendencies. The desire to unlock new skills and more powerful equipment sufficiently motivates you through the most tedious of quests. Interesting enemies, loot lust, and good character development systems keep you engaged. You've already defeat a bunch of them your first time through, why would you want to grind through another two dozen? To be fair, such tasks are offloaded as side quests the further you advance in the game, yet their frequent appearance demonstrates a lack of creativity.Įxploring Frosty Dungeon for the first time is fun returning to it in order to hunt ice zombies for a fetch quest is boring. The first two hours of the game consist of little more than errands to kill 15 of this monster and collect ten of that item. Rather than seizing the opportunity to buck the increasingly antiquated notion that level grinding and fetch quests define the role-playing experience, Zenonia 2 remains far too faithful to its predecessor. Just because you're able to shoot at a distance as Ecne or pummel enemies with Daza's swift moves doesn't change the fact that you're grinding. In other words, the missions you're given remain unchanged from the rote fetch quests that dominated the first game. The opportunity to play four distinct characters gives Zenonia 2 superficial variety, but it doesn't at all affect the core game design. Each character has his own unique perspective, abilities, and even the occasional special mission, but the main quest is the same. Playing as one of these warriors - the swordsman Lu, female gunslinger Ecne, magician Morphice, or martial artist Daza - you travel through forests, lakes, mountains, deserts, and dungeons seeking the gems. Humour and cuteness abound in the story of four criminals-turned-warriors forced to track down mystical gems in the face of a mounting evil. One thing that you can be glad hasn't changed is the storytelling. An array of minor changes make it technically superior, but the gameplay fails to advance from the original. While this ensures consistent quality, it also means the sequel doesn't move forward in a significant way. Zenonia 2: Lost Memories might have new characters, settings, and scenarios, but it recasts the same old skool role-playing of the first game. But after a while it, inevitably gets old. It's why Robert DeNiro has been in so many crooked cop movies and Christopher Walken always plays the creepy guy.Ĭertain actors are just so good at certain roles that you want to see them again and again. They often combine a tense atmosphere with solid pacing and you can truly feel the impact of some of the punches (the final blows of the second fight between Ippo/Sendo, or the ending to the Takamura/Hawk bout for example). The fights are, of course, the manga's strongest point, and Morikawa has managed to create some iconic ones over the course of Ippo. The characters are all likeable and although some tick the normal cliche boxes, they still manage to stand out and worm a place into your heart (Ippo's lack of self confidence comes off as believable rather than annoying for example). The storyline is simple, (a bullied schoolboy starts boxing to discover what it means to be "strong", meets a rival, and begins his journey to the top of the boxing world) but it's well executed and doesn't try to be something that it's not. However, if you are into sports/action manga, then there are few that can come as highly regarded as Ippo. well, "toilet-based" (not saying that's a bad thing, but it does divide some people) and there is no real romance (over 800 chapters and the main relationship is developing at a snail's pace. Secondly, there is little in Ippo to appeal to those who aren't sports/action fans. It will still put some people off though. and seeing as this manga spends nearly all of it's time inside of a boxing ring, the art works for it's intended audience. However, his ability to convey action, speed, the weight behind blows and muscle structure is very good. His way of drawing faces has little variation and he can't draw girls. Morikawa's art will not appeal to everyone. I'm writing this because, well, this manga deserves a good review. This manga is one that I read when other mangas are taking a week off. Not being one of my favorite manga's but definitely being worth a read. The theme that we all love about some unpopular boy but kind in his heart becoming a recognizable person through hard work and determination. If you ask me what kept me reading so far the answer would be in the theme. but the art seems to get much better after a hundred or so chapters. In the beginning all the characters look the same. The humor is plain simple trying hard to make you laugh. In the hundreds of chapters I've read I don't remember that many good jokes or funny moments. The comedy part is quite mediocre as well. Ippo dreams of becoming the world champion in boxing.Īnd all of the manga is surrounded by boxing. I wouldn't say that it's one of the best out there. ReSound offers standard and “fun” colors for their RIC and BTE hearing aids, including three versions of digital camouflage designed specifically for the Veterans Health Administration. ![]() ReSound and Beltone are the only ones to offer this in hearing aids, but this “semi-remote” microphone technology is also found in Advanced Bionics cochlear implant speech processors (called the T-Mic) and works well to give directional microphone benefit in a small space. ![]() This position has been shown to improve speech understanding in background noise. This product, unique to ReSound, and shared with sister company Beltone, places the microphone in the helix of the outer ear. A small transparent tube sends sound from the microphone to the component in your ear canal. The hearing aid microphone is worn within the curved groove of your ear, where it is still out of sight. ReSound’s tiers are labeled as 9 (premium) 7 (mid-range), and 5 (entry-level). In the real world, this reduces listening effort in the presence of background noise. This “ear-to-ear” communication synchronizes volume and program changes, as well as optimizing directional microphone settings. This capability allows ReSound hearing aids to connect to smartphones and accessories, and it also allows the hearing aids to share information. ReSound offers this in all technology levels and nearly all form factors. It is also the foundation of “made for iPhone” Bluetooth LE (low energy). This tech provides a longer range and lower power consumption than traditional Bluetooth. For this year’s review, I’ll go through all of these options and why I tend to recommend the company when patients are interested in smartphone compatibility or a remote microphone.īefore getting into ReSound’s product line, a little about their technology: In addition to the early use of multichannel compression, ReSound was also the first hearing aid to use the 2.4GHz wireless platform. As you’ll see below, ReSound has a number of different accessories that connect to their hearing aids and was the first to introduce an iPhone app. Today’s ReSound hearing aids come in a wide variety of domes, including its “Tulip” dome, that, in my experience, fits most ears comfortably and is one of the reasons they are a “go-to” brand in my clinical practice. In 1999, ReSound was purchased by the Great Nordic group and became part of the GN Group, fueling growth for the company into global markets. This was one of the first “game changers” in hearing aids since the invention of the transistor in 1947. In the late 1980s, a group of physicians in Redwood City, CA developed a hearing aid based on Vilchur’s work and began selling it as ReSound. In 1973, famed American inventor Edgar Vilchur conceived of a multi-channel compression amplifier for hearing aids, which he published to the public domain. I began fitting first-generation ReSound hearing aids in the early 1990s, and I still remember the look on my patients’ faces when they heard me talking from down the hall for the first time in decades.įor some context, ReSound is an interesting story of innovation and growth. ![]() You may also like to download besiegeĮuropa Universalis IV Collection PC game is set in the year 1444. I think all of the expansions brought something good to the game but some people feel that some of the expansions by far outshine the others. The unit packs are just fluff you rarely if ever notice, so when you evaluate how much you save in a collection deal, you should only add up the prices of the base game and the gameplay expansions. I currently have 1.600 hours in Europa Universalis IV and my take on it is, that the game is very much worth picking up. The other dlc are almost all unit packs which allow customization of the appearance of units so each country's don't look the same (kinda useless unless you like zooming in to watch your little minions fight), or a few flavor packs which add events and stuff for a few countries or religions. Conquest of Paradise and Art of War (another dlc which sadly is not in the bundle) are generally what I'd recommend as almost required dlc for the full experience.Īll the other dlc is generally quite nice except the newest one (Mare Nostrum) which still has some balance issues, but generally only affect one small aspect of the game (Res Publica is about playing as a Republic, Cossacks is about playing as a Horde, Common Sense is about interacting with your subjects, Wealth of Nations is about trade, El Dorado adds a bit more flavor to the new world). ![]() However, do note that the game without Conquest of Paradise is slightly lacking, since it totally changes how colonizing nations and native Americans work. It only includes 3 actually decent dlc (Res Publica, Wealth of Nations, Conquest of Paradise), and the game plus dlc all go on sale regularly enough at -75% off that you can get the base game and those three dlc for slightly cheaper than the bundle cost. The collection bundle mainly comes with a lot of unit pack dlcs not actual gameplay dlcs. The quality of Discover Weekly’s picks is so consistently good, it’s a bit uncanny. “We now have more technology than ever before to ensure that if you’re the smallest, strangest musician in the world, doing something that only 20 people in the world will dig, we can now find those 20 people and connect the dots between the artist and listeners,” Matthew Ogle, who oversees the service at Spotify, told me recently. “Discovery Weekly is just a really compelling new way to do that at a scale that’s never been done before.” ![]() When a technical hiccup delayed the release of new tracks one Monday in September, many were distraught.
